Gone Fishin'

The weather forecast for the weekend was PERFECT! I called my sister, Barb, and her husband, Tom, and inquired as to whether they might be considering a little fishing trip on Saturday. And, as luck would have it...they were! And we were welcome to join them. Yahoo! We bought our fishing licenses on-line and off we went to Big Marine Lake. Man, what a beautiful lake. Check out this house below. Now, this is probably the most sprawling of the houses on this lake. The majority of the shoreline consists of trees and small cabins. Even though this lake is so close to the city, it has a very "up north" feel to it. The first thing out on the boat, I got a little hungry. I thought I should measure our first catch.Ah yes, the elusive salami and spinach sandwich...average size at only 5.5 inches...but ever so tasty! After a fabulous 2 hour tour of the shoreline, we decided to get down to some serious angling. Tom was generous enough to allow Chunky to use his favorite fishing pole. Meanwhile, Ruthie rummaged around Barb's jewelry...I mean tackle...box (otherwise known as the "Falcon") and spotted this little beauty in there. This was so golden and sparkly. Below you see our captain.Do you think Tom enjoys spending time on his boat? Uh-oh...looks like we are going to quit fishing and start catching. This is a pretty good looking Northern that Chunky pulled in. Next, we have a little Bass... Chunky seems very pleased with himself. Below is a photo of the proud owners of the fishing boat...Barb & Tom. Then we have to get back to the fishing... Chunky has now pulled in a bigger Bass. Yes...did I mention that they were LARGE mouth bass? Big Marine Lake has a lot of loons on it. This was the best pic I was able to catch...not too great. But, you'll have to trust me, there were many of them. And lots of babies, too. Every once in awhile you would hear their erie wail...it's such a beautiful, haunting sound. Now this sight below surprised us.A couple of horses cooling off with a little dip in the lake! We really enjoyed the entire day. Wonder what has me with such a smile on my face? Well, first of all Mary and Tom had to check out our intended route. And then Tom opened that bad boy up! Check out our rooster tail! We were flying. And then, after a perfect day on the lake, we headed back to the launch and Tom pulled the boat back onto the trailer like it was nobody's business.Tom made it look easy, but somehow I don't think it is! And below you see Barb and Tom's boat back on the trailer and ready to head home.It's easy to understand why they call them pleasure crafts...what a great boat! Then, the fun wasn't over. Check out what we spotted on the way home. Cows! Man, this was a pretty good herd of Black Angus. Who would have thought we were a mere 15 minutes out of town??? What a great day.

Liz, Chris and I had a "Girl's Only Lake Daze" this past Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Chris' Pike Lake. This was a veiw from the pontoon boat on a sunset cruise. There was not a wave nor a fly on top of the lake. The water was so clear you could see the fish move below. I had a peaceful couple of days spent with two stellar companions with much delightful conversations lasting into the dawn of the next! Well, almost! An amazing time for removing any stresses in our lives and a unanimous vote of "Yes we will do it again, SOON!" Thanks Chris & Liz for delighting this particular elderly grandma type lady!

Moose

Hey guys! check out this picture a co-worker of Stephen's took. He saw the Moose and took its picture just outside of Rifle,Co which is about 40 miles south of Meeker....really close to Stephen's Forest (White River National Forest). Its pretty cool to see one because they are in the process of re-introducing Moose (meece?) to the area. They are native, but havnt been around in awhile. Just thought I'd share. :D

Meeker Move

Here is a snapshot of our move to Meeker, Co. Michaela flew into Amarillo, TX to help us pack, then made the 10 hr trek with Stephen and I to Meeker, Co. She helped us unpack the uhaul and did a little site-seeing. Then flew out of Grand Junction, Co back to MN. The move was hard work, but a lot of fun! Meeker, Co is GREAT!! Everyone has an open invitation to come visit. We have a spare room, and an extra car if need be. You would just have to get yourself out here. :P

Michaela's Magic Hands on Auntie Chris

I wanted to share this video with all of you to showcase Michaela's skill as a healer and massager. As you can see, Auntie Christine is enjoying the moment with great joy and bliss. Michaela, we are all waiting our turn.. I am, especially! In truth, you really DO have a great gift of massage along with all your other gifts which this post is too brief to list. Father's Day 2008 was rich with laughter and family and as always, a joy for the "father/grandfather of the day who was delighted to see his family on this day of honor.

A Rose is a Rose

On Saturday, I had a nice visit with Grandma Potts and her lovely husband, my Uncle Jim. I wrote up a post in my blog about it and then decided that it would certainly be appropriate for the new Potts blog, too. So, here ya go...

I went to visit my favorite aunt and uncle today. Their family has started a new blog, and I went out to give my auntie a quick blog posting lesson. They have the most beautiful yard you would ever want to see.
Wouldn't this delightful setting in their backyard be just perfect for enjoying a little iced tea...or even better, a hot fudge sundae!

Below you see my uncle, Jim, snipping a few buds from their rose garden.
Then he presents them to his lovely wife, my Aunt JoAnn.
They really are beautiful...both the people and the flowers!
Just perfect, natural, simple beauty. And, you do know where those perfect roses ended up, don't you?
Right on my porch, of course! A lovely reminder of a delightful visit.

April Snow Mallards

Remember our April Snow?

Well these two laid an egg in our garden and the next day this happened....The egg is still there.

Never hatched...Sad. Talked to the neighbors

yesterday...they said the same mallards laid

an egg in their garden...hope again.

This is a view of George Washington's nostrils. I'll bet he didn't know that they would ever become so famous and so... well... so obvious!
This is not a picture of a Viking ship's sail. It is a clever and eye appealing shade cover for those who wish to picnic in the depths of the Badlands of So. Dakota. What an amazing landscape!
