All About Harry Wild Jones

The Honored guests attending the book signing : Mrs. Pat Jones, Mary Pat Jones Potts and Ken Potts. Pictured here is the home Harry designed and resided in until his death seventy years ago.

Who are all these people? Well, about 50 plus people came to admire the work of Harry Jones and see a slide show of his life and maybe to buy the lovely pictoral book there. The beautiful inlaid wood everywhere is apparent in this stairway in the entry of the house. The roof Turret design was unique for this time-frame. Harry brought ideas from the orient and other coutries where he traveled with leaders of countries of the world. What a wonderful event this turned out to be and it was heartwarming to know that if this author had not taken the time to learn about Harry Wild Jones, his work might not be revered as it is today. All of the many photograps used in the slide show and book are from the originals that Lee and Pat Jones had in their possession and offered to this Minneapolis Historical Society for their use.

Harry W. Jones Famous Architech

Thursday, Sept 26th 70 years ago, Mr. Harry Wild Jones died in the home he designed which was located on Nicollet Avenue and 51st Street in Minneapolis. Harry Wild Jones is the great grandfather of Mary Pat Jones Potts and the grandfather of Lee Jones. Mr. Harry Jones' work was much admired and appreciated and a recent book was written about his life. A book signing was held and attended by about 50 interested neighbors and admirers of Harry Jones extensive architechure which included the orginal Lake Harriet Bandshell and many other buildings and homes in the Minneapolis area. Harry was honored yesterday at his home by the book's author and a reception was held there.. Lee's family, Pat and Mary Pat were there along with Ken, Jim and JoAnn Potts. It was a delightful evening and this tour of the neighborhood and home and slide show was very enjoyable and the hosts of this event were extremely delighted to have relatives of Harry (I feel we can call him that now) were there.
